    Sea Snakes prompt Sinaproc Alert

Swimmers on El Uverito Beach in the district of Los Santos reported an abundance of sea snakes on the coast, Sunday March 26th 2017.

The information was confirmed by authorities in the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc). Sunday afternoon Sinaproc place a red flag on El Uverito beach indicating that it was dangerous to swim.

According to witnesses on the same day there was also a green turtle sighting. Fisherman in this region explained that sightings of both species, marine turtles and sea snakes are not uncommon in this area. Pelamis platura sea snakes, commonly known as yellow-bellied sea snakes, appear on beaches in the province of Los Santos, specifically in Pedasí, each year.
