Cuba, Panama Succeed in Trade Negotiations
(Prensa Latina) Panama announced the conclusion of the process of commercial negotiations with Cuba, which led to the signing of an agreement on a partial reach with chances to compete for the productive sectors, and the services.
According to the Panamanian Trade and Industries Ministry (MICI) that was the result of three working meetings and two rounds of conversations, the last one celebrated in Havana, from January 21 to 23.
Severo Sousa, viceminister of Foreign Trade of Panama, said that options are being opened to foster a development for services between the two countries.
The agreement includes important results in access to markets and goods, regulations on the exchange of services, customs procedures, rules and a chapter on commercial cooperation, among other aspects.
MICI said that preferences up to 100 percent in several items on foods, profiles for roofs, steel structures destined to construction and other products, were reached.
Also, tax facilities between 75 and 80 percent on dairy products, juices and nectars reached preferences.
Cooperation points at the application of programs for propaganda, commercial promotion, market study work and exchange of information.
MICI president Gisela Alvarez stated that the agreement will allow the Panamanian government to generate solid chances for the productive sectors in Cuba.
